Good-bye, East Wing

The Rose Garden disappeared first;

The East Wing has left us now.

Say good-bye, auf Wiedersehen,

Au revoir, adiós, and ciao.

The king requires no approval.

He can do whatever he chooses.

As he demolishes history,

He gets his way; America loses.

Despite the fact the people are struggling

To make ends meet and feeling despair,

The king is bailing out other countries

And spending money 'cause he doesn't care.

If he doesn't like you, watch out.

If the king thinks you're his foe,

He'll order his henchmen to find you, and then

Into the dungeon you will go.

But if you are a criminal--

Base and vile--whose heart has hardened,

Pretend that you admire the king,

And, lo and behold, you'll be pardoned.

If you're on a boat on the ocean,

He won't give it a second thought:

There's no need for captures and trials;

He'll have you killed right there on the spot.

Back in the past, some of his current

Sycophants wouldn't go near him.

Now they grovel, kiss his ring,

And do his bidding because they fear him.

With tacky trinkets surrounding him

Within the Oval Office, he

Makes his decrees, ignores the laws,

And rules by revenge and sophistry.

What will the king demolish next--

More institutions, legal protections,

Jobs, healthcare, social security,

Income for farmers, or fair elections?
