Ode to Algae

O great Reflecting Pool with wondrous

Beauty meant to last,

Your algae love to sing the praise

Of every chloroplast!

 

Symbol of Trump's presidency

And monument to what

Happens when the country is

Ruled by a nut.

 

Trump says only he can fix

A problem, so he hires

Grifters with his no-bid deals.

Ah, then what transpires?

 

The project fails miserably,

But still Trump will laud

All the work his buddies did,

Even though it's flawed.

 

Your "American flag blue" sealant

Allowed the algae to flourish

By making a warmer environment

For friends that it would nourish.

 

Reflecting Pool, your dark blue water

Became a vivid green.

That that would happen, according to experts,

Was not unforeseen.

 

The blue sealant lifted off

The bottom in large strips,

Which tourists took as souvenirs

While laughing over quips.

 

Of course, Trump had to find

Someone else to blame.

Democrats are always for him

An easy target to name.

 

Over fourteen millions bucks

Were spent to restore

Your beauty, while the people suffer

As costs continue to soar.

 

Reflecting Pool, full of algae,

Remind us all; make haste!

Show what happens when a land

Is run by fraud and waste.

A President's Retreat

Trump, along with Netanyahu,

Attacked Iran and started a war.

Now the U.S. and the world

Are worse off than they were before.

 

Trump said unconditional

Surrender was the only way

His war would end, and during the conflict

Every day was Groundhog Day.

 

He sounds like a tough guy, huh?

Ah, but this is worth remembering:

Was Trump saying all along

That he would be the one surrendering?

 

Now we have an MOA:

A memorandum of understanding

Between the U.S. and Iran.

Iran is doing the demanding.

 

Sanctions against Iran will be lifted,

Giving it access to world trade.

Iran will also receive from us

Three hundred billion dollars in aid.

 

For sixty days Iran won't charge

Fees for passage through the Strait.

After that, who knows what

Charges the country will contemplate.

 

Again, Iran says it won't

Procure nuclear weapons, but how

Will the country be monitored?

No plan seems to exist right now.

 

The hardliners running Iran

Are stronger now, and they have shown

That they have leverage over us

Because of Trump. Let that be known!

 

We were gaslighted all along.

Information was never clear-cut.

Lives were lost, costs surged,

Economies suffered. All for what?

 

Negotiating instead of bombing

Would have been a better plan.

But once again, Trump screwed up.

What a sorry, pitiful man!
