February: Black History Month

Black History Month begins

On February 1 each year.

But Trump and his cronies are working hard

To make Black history disappear.

Our African American

History Museum,° you see,

Is too "divisive" according to Trump,

And we cannot allow that to be.

Our history must be whitewashed

In order to protect our youth.

That is one of the ways that Trump

Will keep the people from learning the truth.

Memorials honoring

Enslaved peoples are being removed.

Trump thinks then the American people's

Self-image will be improved.

Removing Black historical figures

From national websites: another way

The Trump regime makes a blatant

White supremacist power play.

Books are being removed from bookshelves,

As though Black lives don't matter, and true

Exhibits that place a focus on

Our racist past are becoming taboo.

While the country's legacy

Of racist abuse is being ignored,

It seems as though old Jim Crow laws

With Trump's support are being restored.

Is the Holocaust Museum

Going to be next? Is that Trump's plan?

Any way that he can stifle

The truth, he'll do it if he can.

Celebrate Black History month.

Let the amazing stories be spread--

Both accomplishments and struggles

Of Blacks, both the living and dead.
